Breast screening service extends age range

At Edgware Community Hospital are consultant radiologist Dr Glenda Kaplan, radiographer Janet Smith, advanced practitioner Rosalind Felton, director of screening Dr Will Teh, deputy superintendent radiographer Kathy Murphy and Hologic breast health sales specialist John McMahon with the Hologic 3D Mammography system and the ATEC biopsy solution.
As one of the largest breast screening services across London, the North London Breast Screening Service (NLBSS) has 17 mobile screening sites served by five mobile units and two static centres that screen as part of the National Breast Screening Programme.
A well-equipped assessment centre on the first floor of the Edgware Community Hospital contains a Hologic Prone Table, two Selenia units and a Selenia Dimensions 3D Mammography system.
There are also two Selenia screening units on the ground floor of the building, plus an Affirm breast biopsy guidance system, two ATEC vacuum assisted breast biopsy machines and the Eviva breast biopsy devices together with breast ultrasound and MRI facilities at nearby Northwick Park Hospital.
Hologic breast health sales specialist John McMahon said: “NLBSS represents one of our biggest customers in the UK and we are very pleased to assist them in the provision of excellent breast imaging services for their community.”
