The landscape of gynaecological ultrasound is transforming, and at the heart of this change is a renewed focus on education, collaboration and compassionate care. One initiative leading the way is the Advanced Gynaecology Ultrasound Course hosted by King’s College London.

Launched in 2024 by a team of sonographers, gynaecologists and radiologists, the course was created with a clear goal: to empower practitioners to move beyond basic pelvic scanning.

Having recently completed its third successful run, the course offers a two-part structure that blends theory with immersive face-to-face coaching. The first day is delivered online, featuring lectures from leading educators in gynaecological imaging. The second day brings delegates together in London for hands-on simulator training, interactive tutorials and small-group learning.

A key focus of the course is an emphasis on extending the scan. Delegates learn to assess beyond the uterus and ovaries, assessing the pelvis for subtle signs of disease such as endometriosis. This comprehensive approach ensures that participants leave not only with enhanced technical skills, but precise reporting skills to support timely, accurate diagnosis.

Further cohorts are confirmed for November 2025 and April 2026. The course is tailored for professionals who already perform gynaecological scans that are ready to take their practice to the next level.

By equipping clinicians with the tools and insight to detect complex conditions earlier, the course is helping to reshape the future of women’s health, one scan at a time.
