Bridging the gap between imaging procurement and clinical deployment

Across the UK, radiology departments are under increasing pressure. Imaging demand continues to grow, yet hospitals must navigate ageing infrastructure, limited capital budgets and complex installation projects when replacing or upgrading scanners. In many cases, the challenge is not only acquiring equipment, but it is ensuring that new systems are implemented safely, efficiently and without disrupting clinical services.
Large imaging projects often require coordination across multiple stakeholders: equipment suppliers, engineers, construction teams, IT specialists and clinical departments. This complexity can create delays and operational risk, particularly when hospitals must maintain imaging capacity while systems are being replaced or relocated.
Recognising this challenge, AGITO Medical has strengthened its operational delivery capabilities through the acquisition of UK-based engineering specialist Goring Medical Projects Limited (GMP).
According to technical operations director Bjoern Gerhardt, the move addresses a structural gap that exists across the entire imaging ecosystem: “Over the past 20 years we have built a strong platform around sourcing, refurbishing and deploying diagnostic imaging equipment and solutions,” he explains. “But delivering successful imaging projects requires much more than providing the scanner itself. The real value lies in how that asset is implemented, integrated and brought into clinical use.”
GMP brings extensive expertise in installation management, infrastructure coordination and complex technical integration – capabilities that are increasingly critical as hospitals undertake replacement programmes, department upgrades or temporary capacity expansions.
“The combination allows us to move further from being seen purely as an equipment supplier. Instead, we can support hospitals as a lifecycle partner, ensuring that deployment, replacement and integration are managed to a new industry standard.” – Bjoern Gerhardt, technical operations director, AGITO Medical.
For radiology departments facing mounting capacity pressures, this integrated approach could help reduce project complexity while ensuring imaging services remain available when patients need them most.
