Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth has purchased two Philips Veradius Unity mobile C-arms as replacement systems for two mobile image intensifiers at the end of their useful life.
Senior radiographer Trevor Smith said: “The time had come to replace the image intensifiers. Philips provided us with a demonstration unit and we found it met our needs in terms of image quality and dose. We find them easy to use, with an intuitive touch screen interface and a flat panel detector offering an improved dynamic range over conventional image intensifier technology.
“We are a large imaging department within a busy acute trust. Queen Alexandra Hospital has 27 operating theatres covering a range of specialities. The new C-arms are being used for a surgical procedures including orthopaedics, urology and vascular.”
