Chesterfield MRI department upgrades to the latest AI reconstruction tool

The MRI department at Chesterfield Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has gained funding from NHSE to upgrade to the newest version of GE HealthCare’s AIR Recon DL for 3D, motion correction and 2D Dixon imaging. In 2022 the MRI team had a GE HealthCare Signa Voyager AIR 1.5T upgraded to the AI-powered deep learning reconstruction technique AIR Recon DL for 2D and DWI imaging. One of the features of this technology is its ability to reduce scan times without compromising image quality. AIR Recon DL makes it possible to obtain high resolution images in a fraction of the usual time.
Integration of the latest AIR Recon DL makes further improvements in workflow and scan time reductions, improving diagnostic accuracy for key body areas, in particular Propeller C-Spines, Propeller Shoulder, 3D MRCP, 3D Pelvis and Propeller Pelvis.
The department and the patients already had the benefits of many of the AIR portfolio features including the latest AIR Coils, which work around the patient.
Clinical manager for MRI and CT Rebecca Ward said: “Having worked with GE HealthCare equipment for some time, it is fantastic to have the next generation of AI here in Chesterfield. The image quality is superb and the scanner will enable us to continue to provide an excellent diagnostic service, ensuring the best possible outcome for our patients.”
