Contrast volume is reduced with syringeless injector

News

At South Tyrone Hospital is Bracco’s Noel Lynott with radiographers Patricia Hackett McKenna and Yvonne McKenna and CT clinical specialist Lisa Ferguson.

Following a successful launch in the rest of the UK, Bracco has sold its first CT Expres syringeless system in Northern Ireland.  It replaces a conventional syringe-based injector at South Tyrone Hospital.

CT clinical specialist Lisa Ferguson said: “The installation of the CT Expres injector system has allowed on average a 20 per cent reduction in contrast media volume given to each patient. This contributes to a reduced risk of contrast induced nephropathy and is conducive to departmental savings.  The simple daily set-up and elimination of manually filing syringes facilitates improved out-patient workflow and patient throughput. Staff in the CT department find it really user friendly.”
