City St George’s, University of London, has celebrated the launch of City St George’s Research Radiographer Group (CRRAG), a radiography and radiotherapy research group. The launch in September brought together academics, clinicians, industry leaders, students and policymakers from the UK and around the world. The event was opened by associate dean in the School of Health and Medical Sciences Professor Lucy Dipper, who highlighted the opportunities created by the recent merger between City and St George’s. CRRAG director Dr Christina Malamateniou introduced the new group, outlining its core values of integrity, diversity and resilience and its ambition to drive multidisciplinary international research in both technology and person-centred care.

Sessions encompassed a range of timely topics including AI governance and ethics, leadership roles in AI, digital twinning, inclusive research for neurodivergent participants, and patient experiences with AI. Keynote speeches further emphasised the power of research to transform practice and policy, with contributions from leading figures including Professor Jonathan McNulty, Dr Patrizia Cornachione, Professor Fragkiskos Filippaios, Dr Nick Drey and Dr Marcus Jackson.
The event concluded with a strategic discussion on CRRAG’s future research priorities, including grant development, dissemination and societal impact. CRRAG is currently fund-raising from interested sponsors for the Radband fellowship, which supports pre-doctoral radiographers working for 0.2FTE on a research project and strengthens their research profile while working on a funding application.
CRRAG acknowledges support from the deanery of the School of Health and Medical Sciences and the sponsors that made the event possible: Guerbet, Perspectum, Collective Minds, Corsmed, The British Institute of Radiology, AXREM, Skilled Personnel, Virtual Medical Coaching and GE HealthCare.
