Cutting-edge PETCT equipment expands capacity at UCLH

University College London Hospitals (UCLH) has upgraded its current PETCT system to a Siemens Healthineers’ Biograph Vision, as part of NHS England’s National Contract for PETCT to expand current capacity to improve patient experience and mitigate waiting times.

“UCLH was one of the first PETCT centres in the UK and is considered a thought-leader in this area,” states Siemens. “The Biograph Vision was selected to meet high throughput targets while scanning at high resolution. UCLH is currently responsible for PETCT provision within North London, where the multimodality scanner increases capacity without taking up additional space.”

The system will be used in part for clinical oncology but will also function in clinical cardiology, in addition to its use for research purposes. It was developed to allow users to see with precision and accuracy to maximise efficiency and aid understanding of disease progression. With high spatial resolution to reduce the impact of partial volume effect and faster time of flight, making it easier to see small lesions, the Biograph Vision enables accurate quantification.
