De Montfort’s diagnostic radiography programme is backed by latest DR

De Montfort University, Leicester, has developed a new Diagnostic Radiography BSc (Hons) programme and needed an x-ray system that would deliver both manual operation and full state-of-the-art automation. The clinical and estates teams worked together to ensure that they chose the most appropriate equipment for the needs of the students and the best value solution for the university.
MIS Healthcare managed the transformation of an existing laboratory and lecture room into an x-ray room and fully digital teaching area, installing Samsung’s GC85 x-ray suite and training the programme staff ready for the arrival of the first students in September.
Programme lead for diagnostic radiography Chris Alvey said: “I think we have one of the best clinical training facilities in the UK. Our students benefit from the most up-to-date equipment available, while also being able to learn how to work with the full range of equipment in the field.”
The GC85 system provides a fully automated room to enable clinical training on the latest digital radiography technology, while offering the ability for the equipment to be used in the same way as the more traditional equipment that students will be exposed to on some of their clinical placements.
