Hot topics in ultrasound were the subject of a study day at Keele University held by Toshiba Medical Systems. The day was designed to enhance and update delegates’ knowledge of current ultrasound views and topics, with experts in the field sharing best practice. Toshiba reports excellent attendance, with students drawn from the north west and Midlands.
Leighton Hospital superintendent sonographer Suzanne Lynn said: “The day was stimulating and just what we needed a true mixed bag’ of talks, perfectly suited to the modern-day sonographer, delving into areas of ultrasound which were previously the exclusive domain of the radiologist.
“On a personal level, I was particularly interested in the talk by Professor Adrian Lim on SMI, Toshiba’s latest development for looking at microvascularity. We saw some excellent examples of neovascularity within small tendons that demonstrated no flow using conventional power Doppler imaging. This has the potential to make a significant impact on our rapidly expanding MSK ultrasound service.
