Diana, Princess of Wales Hospital, Grimsby, has purchased Esaote’s flagship ultrasound system. The MyLab X9 will allow the breast unit to obtain high diagnostic image quality using the latest technology. Patients will benefit from the easy visualisation of small structures and changes in breast tissue.
Consultant radiographic practitioner Sarah Fox said: “We have patients travelling into our hospital from across the south of the Humber, from Goole to well south of Grimsby. We also undertake breast screening assessments for the Humberside Breast Screening Service as a satellite unit.
“The MyLab X9 will allow us to give the highest level of cancer detection possible using modern technology and will benefit the 500-600 new referrals each month. The department also operates an open access and family history service. We were impressed by the ease of use of the equipment and the clarity of the image. The apple probe is also very light and reduces risk of WRULD (work-related upper limb disorder).”
MyLab X9 offers a range of premium technologies and a multi-parameter approach to diagnosis in various applications, such as QElaXto 2D for tissue elasticity assessment and packages for breast imaging with BreastNav MRI for fusion of ultrasound and MRI. This features an adaptive algorithm to calculate changes in positional breast morphology, allowing for monitoring and treatment guidance of focal lesions.
