A hospital that serves almost a fifth of London’s population is utilising digital imaging technology for the first time, having chosen a Konica Minolta Aero DR system. St George’s Hospital in Tooting made the choice following an extensive evaluation programme.
With St George’s processing more than 3,000 x-rays a week, the digital equipment has provided immediate results, as superintendent radiographer Sue Baillie explained: “We began by trialling Konica Minolta’s Aero DR retrofit and we saw an immediate difference to the our speed of service and waiting times.
“Increasing the efficiency and speed of our operations was important, but at the heart of it was the desire to reduce waiting times and improve the patient’s experience of our service.”
