Direct replacement for out-dated C-arm systems

Royal Victoria Hospital in Belfast has received two new C-arm systems, a Veradius Unity and a BV Pulsera from Philips UKI. Both machines are replacements for older equipment and are being used primarily in orthopaedic theatres for a wide range of procedures.
Superintendent radiographer ED and plain film service Bill Calladine said: “We have been using a Philips BV Libra and found it easy to learn and use, giving high quality images, with good back-up for servicing. Both systems, but the Veradius in particular, are producing much better image quality than was ever possible with the older equipment, whilst at the same time reducing the x-ray dose.
“As a PFI project, we had managers on site who were easily approachable at all stages of the purchase. Training was readily provided at the dates and times of our choosing, with further follow-up visits as necessary. Since all our imaging equipment is provided by Philips under the PFI contract, it is also helpful to have similar software on all the systems, be it a mobile x-ray, general rooms, fluoro rooms or image intensifiers, as it makes staff training much more straightforward.”
