GE Healthcare at University Hospital of Wales

University Hospital of Wales in Cardiff has upgraded its GE HealthCare MRI scanners to the latest software, AIR Recon DL and Sonic DL. Paired with the multipurpose AIR Coil and wireless gating, these advancements are not only enhancing image quality but also improving patient comfort and streamlining workflow. Radiographer Hollie Marriott shared her experience with the new set-up: “Wireless gating is much easier to use and more stable. The AIR Coil is much nicer to use, more comfortable for the patient and has improved signal.”

The AIR Coil’s lightweight, flexible design allows for easier positioning and better anatomical coverage, contributing to a more efficient scanning process.

Deputy MRI superintendent and CMR lead James Davies said: “We are now scanning cardiac patients that we would not have scanned before.”

MRI superintendent radiographer Luke White added: “We are now starting to see changes in appointment times,” suggesting the new technology is already impacting throughput and scheduling efficiency.
