High street clinic chain chooses Esaote’s scanners for extremities and joints

Living Room Health has partnered with Esaote to provide MRI scanners. Living Room Health launched in October with clinics in Paddington and Brighton, with further openings planned throughout 2023. It aims to bring affordable and accessible self-pay healthcare to high streets. The clinic offers walk-in MR scanning,
amongst other services.
The Paddington clinic has chosen Esaote’s dedicated MRI O-scan and S-scan systems to deliver a complimentary service to the core business. At Brighton a walk-in O-scan is already in use by self-pay patients and for diagnostics by physiotherapists and clinicians.
Head of radiology Dr Qaiser Malik has been a clinical director of radiology at Mid and South Essex NHS Trust for two years, and clinical lead at Basildon University Hospital for 10 years. He said: “We chose Esaote’s dedicated scanners because we believe that Esaote provides highly accurate and world-class imaging. As well as technical capabilities the machines have increased usability in terms of size and flexibility, making them the perfect fit for our new style of healthcare service. The O-scans and S-scan we have chosen are open and user-friendly, providing benefits for people who are claustrophobic.”
The O-scan can produce detailed images of extremities and, being an open scanner, has the benefit of reducing fear for patients who suffer with claustrophobia. The S-scan will cover larger joints such as hips and shoulders as well as brain, lumbar, thoracic and cervical spine. S-scan is said to be easy to use, with simple patient workflow that cost-effectively delivers image quality. Its open design and real-time image display on the gantry facilitates fast and easy patient positioning.
Esaote business development manager, MRI, John Manchester said: “I’m delighted we are working with Living Room as I feel our systems are a perfect fit for its requirements. This is because our systems are able to be installed in compact spaces and offer very low running costs at a time when electricity prices are increasing, while providing a high standard of diagnostic imaging.”
