HLH calls for collaboration to address the NHS imaging capacity crisis

CEO of The HLH Imaging Group Professor Sam Hare recently delivered a presentation alongside Everlight Radiology clinical director Dr Allan Andi at the RadVision 2026 South conference in London. Entitled ‘Scaling the network: how national teleradiology partnerships are solving the clinical capacity crisis,’ the session explored how increasing imaging demand, workforce shortages and the uneven distribution of subspecialist expertise are placing sustained pressure on NHS radiology services. While regional reporting networks have improved access and collaboration to some degree, according to the presentation the scale of the current challenge requires a more coordinated national response.

Professor Hare and Dr Andi outlined how the partnership between HLH and Everlight combines complementary strengths. HLH provides specialist clinical expertise across cardiac CT, cardiac MRI and prostate MRI, while Everlight contributes the operational scale, infrastructure and workflow integration required to deliver these services nationally.

HLH said: “For NHS organisations, the aim is to provide a seamless, turnkey service solution: one workflow, one governance framework and reliable access to scarce subspecialist expertise. Rather than replacing local imaging teams, national teleradiology partnerships can act as a flexible extension of the NHS workforce, supporting service resilience and helping patients receive timely, high quality reports regardless of where their imaging is undertaken.

“The presentation demonstrated that the clinical capacity crisis cannot be solved by technology or additional reporting resource alone. Sustainable transformation will depend on clinically-led collaboration, robust governance and NHS industry partnerships that are capable of making specialist expertise available at national scale.”
