Image quality aids fetal ultrasound in high BMI patients

Toshiba Medical Systems ultrasound sales specialist Lynn Allison and ultrasound applications specialist Donna Holdcroft with receptionist Tracey Cox, specialist midwife sonographer Jan Till and maternity support worker Carly Rowe.

New Cross Hospital, part of Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust, has purchased a Toshiba Aplio 500 ultrasound system as a replacement for use in its fetal medicine unit.

The hospital selected the new equipment for its ease of use and superior image quality, especially when imaging patients with increased BMI.

Advanced practitioner sonographer Katherine Mapes said: “We like the comprehensive use of image mode selection and image quality adjustments.  In addition, the capability of post-freeze processing and precision caliper measurements has enabled us to maintain a quality ultrasound obstetric screening service.”
