Installation for specimen radiography system

With a Faxitron system at UCLH are senior radiographer Caroline Pye and breast service manager and advanced nurse practitioner Shirley Day.

A Faxitron specimen radiography system has been installed at University College London Hospitals’ breast unit to save money.

After the one-off cost of the machine, costs are expected to be reduced within a few months by avoiding sending patients elsewhere for investigation.  There is also the patient benefit of seeing staff they know for a procedure that can be quite intimidating.

“Radiographers are becoming skilled in this type of examination and are excellent at reassuring patients,” said a UCLH spokesperson.
