Instant image transfer is key to the success of Liverpool’s mobile breast screening programme

The mobile breast screening programme run by NHS University Hospitals of Liverpool Group is being supported by mobile data transfer company DEOS Consulting. This initiative sees hundreds of women screened weekly using two mobile vehicles, one of which is a double-ended unit, supplied by Lynton Vehicles. DEOS is providing the essential digital image transfer technology, ensuring instant and secure DICOM image transfer from the mobiles directly to the trust’s PACS.
The deployment of the mobiles has significantly expanded access to breast screening services for women across the Liverpool region. These units, particularly the double-ended vehicle, allow for a high volume of appointments.
PACS/RIS lead radiographer Julie McBretney said: “The integration of DEOS Consulting’s digital image transfer solution has been a game changer for our mobile breast screening service. This immediate transfer is paramount, as it eliminates any potential delays in diagnosis, allowing us to identify issues much sooner.”
DEOS managing director Viv Barrett added: “We are incredibly proud to partner with the trust on this vital programme. Our solution is designed to remove the complexities and delays often associated with remote data transfer.”
