Integrated patient record for fetal medicine

Buckinghamshire Healthcare NHS Trust has gone live with a HealthNetConnections (HNC) integrated GE ViewPoint ultrasound reporting system for its obstetric and fetal medicine ultrasound service across Stoke Mandeville and Wycombe Hospital. All ultrasound findings, charts and measurements are now electronically captured within the GE ViewPoint system and, coupled with HNC’s Talk2 Radiology technology the reports are shared electronically with RIS, PACS and maternity to create an integrated patient record for obstetric and fetal medicine ultrasound.
Prior to the implementation Buckinghamshire used its radiology system for fetal medicine reporting, which worked on a free text and dictation reporting basis. This system was unable to support embedded fetal medicine growth charts.
