Three departments at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Gateshead, have installed Philips ultrasound systems. In the ultrasound department, two iU22 machines have been replaced by the latest xMatrix iU22 systems, while the assisted conception unit chose a ClearVue 550 scanner. An xMatrix iE33 cardiac ultrasound system has replaced an echocardiography scanner in the cardiology department.
Ultrasound services manager Pauline Kilbourn said of the xMatrix iU22: “Philips’ machines have proved very reliable in the past and having interchangeable equipment across the department means that, even in the rare event of problems, we can maintain our service.”
