Jimmy’s welcomes MRI system with softer atmosphere

At St James’s Institute of Oncology are clinical scientist Dr Dan Wilson, team manager Brett Crabtree, Siemens Healthcare MR applications specialist Patricia Solomons, clinical scientist Sarah Bacon, principal superintendent radiographer Daina Dambitis and Siemens Healthcare regional sales manager Philip Tesh.
St James’s Institute of Oncology in Leeds, or Jimmy’s as it is known, has installed a Magnetom Aera 1.5T MRI system from Siemens Healthcare.
St James’s University Hospital is one of Europe’s largest teaching hospitals, and the oncology institute has 10 floors dedicated to some of the best treatment for cancer patients available anywhere in the world.
“We selected the Magnetom Aera 1.5T because we were already familiar with Siemens’ imaging systems and trust their reliability,” said principal superintendent radiographer Daina Dambitis. “It is a very patient-friendly solution with its wide bore and MoodLight options; it makes for a softer atmosphere during examinations. Our team has found it easy to get started with and use on a daily basis.”
