King’s Mill Hospital takes delivery of first MRI patient trolley

King’s Mill Hospital in Sutton-in-Ashfield, part of Sherwood Forest Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, has taken delivery of the first of two MRI patient trolleys from Rothband. Robust and easy to manoeuvre, the trolleys have a weight limit of 280kg and are tested for use in a 7.0T MRI scanner. The high base also facilitates the use of a patient hoist.
Portering staff at the hospital are tasked with transporting patients from the wards to the newly-opened hybrid MRI suite, and the trolleys’ steer lockable wheel, adjustable height and gas assist backrest features will make the job easier.
MRI modality lead Claire Barnes commented: “The Rothband MRI trolley is lightweight and easy to use and has enabled us to improve our inpatient workflow to the hybrid MRI scanner at King’s Mill Hospital. The unit is connected to the main hospital by a small corridor, leaving very little space for patient transfer.
“The trolley allows transfer from the patient bed on the ward directly onto the scan table, meaning fewer transfers for patients and staff. This has greatly improved patient flow, which will be improved further when we take receipt of our second trolley.”
