In a bid to provide the most advanced technology currently available in the UK, Leeds Cancer Centre has reached a multi-million pound deal to renew its radiotherapy treatment equipment over the next four years.
Head of radiotherapy Hazel Rodger said: “We are the only centre of our size across the UK that will be able to offer the latest technology across our entire equipment base for the benefit of our patients. Eight new linear accelerators, the latest type available anywhere, will allow for streamlined clinical workflow and process, which results in a better experience for the patients, with reduced treatment times and increased efficiency.
“In particular, this will give us maximum versatility to deliver conventional therapies for treating a wide range of tumours, as well as highly complex cancers that require extreme targeting precision, using an array of techniques.”
