Leighton Hospital boosts ultrasound fleet

Seated are healthcare assistant Lorraine Watkins and superintendent sonographer Suzanne Lynn. Standing are senior sonographers Carolyn Caughter, Sian Luke, Kyle Foster, Anne Hancock and Katie Webster with Toshiba Medical ultrasound applications specialist Paula Connor.
Leighton Hospital in Crewe has replaced its ultrasound equipment with 10 Toshiba Medical scanners, comprising two Aplio 500 systems for the main ultrasound department, three Aplio 400s for the antenatal clinic and community site, four Aplio 300s for the gynaecology, early pregnancy and breast care units, plus a Xario 200 for the general interventional room. The hospital has been able to expand its services to include the liver screening, facilitated by Toshiba Medical’s shear wave elastography software.
Superintendent radiographer Suzanne Lynn said: “Our previous fleet was at the end of its lease. After extensive clinical evaluations in all areas, we found the Toshiba equipment to be the highest performer in terms of image quality, ease of use and technical features. We are particularly delighted with the shear wave liver elastography software, which has enabled us to offer this service to our gastroenterology team. In doing so, we are able to scan patients locally, saving them the long journey to another hospital. Equally important to us is the superb after-sales service we continue to receive from Toshiba.”
