Celebrating the launch of new scanners with a special cake are BMI The Beardwoood Hospital executive director Sam Sheehan, singer Linda Nolan, Alliance Medical MRI unit manager Angela Meadows, BMI Healthcare outpatient services manager Elizabeth Barker and Alliance Medical business development director David Loasby.

BMI The Beardwood Hospital launched its revamped MRI and CT centre with the help of actress and singer Linda Nolan.

Previously all scans at the hospital had to be carried out on a mobile scanner on a weekly basis. The hospital’s upgraded imaging and diagnostic offerings are part of a wider strategy to reduce diagnosis and treatment times.

When looking for replacement systems, the hospital worked with Alliance Medical to choose machines that would offer a wider selection of routine and more complex imaging examinations for patients, including cardiac procedures.

A GE Optima 660 64-slice CT scanner and a Siemens Magnetom Aera 1.5T wide bore MRI scanner were officially unveiled at the £2.3m imaging centre by Linda Nolan, who is best known for being part of the pop group of sisters The Nolans.
