Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital cuts waste

Bracco UK’s Aman Bahia with CT radiographer Hoi Wai Tong, CT superintendent Colin Monaghan and consultant radiologist Dr Diana Penha.
The imaging department at Liverpool Heart and Chest Hospital has been using the CT Exprès syringeless injector system from Bracco, after switching from pre-filled contrast syringes.
CT superintendent Colin Monaghan explained: “For over 10 years we had been using a clean, safe and cost effective method for our CT contrast injections using pre-filled contrast syringes and I had no real desire to change. However once I had spoken with the Bracco team about the benefits of CT Exprès I was immediately sold on the idea.
“It is a compact unit full of inherent safety features to prevent cross-contamination and injection of air bubbles. The unit is simple, quick and intuitive to set up while changeover between patients takes a matter of seconds, freeing up staff to perform other tasks. Having two sources of contrast allows us to not waste a single drop which offers a good cost saving to us.”
