The European Scanning Centre (ESC) based in Harley Street, London, has purchased a Toshiba Aplio 500 ultrasound scanner for its new centre for advanced musculoskeletal imaging.

As part of a £3m expansion of the ESC, the centre includes three new modalities – upright linear dual source CT, upright open MRI and the Aplio ultrasound system.  Along with the dynamic imaging capabilities of Toshiba’s Aquilion One, the centre will offer four MSK imaging modalities to provide a combination of scanners that it says is not available anywhere else in the world.

ESC commercial director Tim Walker said: “We wanted to provide top-of-the-range ultrasound equipment to complement the new scanners and which would be suitable for our specialist MSK service.  The Aplio has enabled us to offer a drop-in service for MSK ultrasound and the upgrade also brings our existing ultrasound services up-to-date.”
