Delegates and speakers at the Toshiba study day.

Toshiba Medical Systems has repeated its successful study day, ‘Hot Topics in Ultrasound’, this time in Stoke-on-Trent.  Aimed at sonographers, radiologists and midwives, the programme is designed to encourage discussion and provide information on current important topics in ultrasound.

The event was held at CoRE (Centre for Refurbishment Excellence), a carbon neutral building, with experts on hand to share their knowledge and best practice.  The programme opened with a presentation on shearwave elastography in liver screening by Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust ultrasound manager Pam Parker.  This was followed by Furness General Hospital consultant radiologist Dr Nigel Grunshaw who spoke about problem solving in the GI tract.

The second half of the morning covered ‘SMI – significant medical innovation’ by University Hospital of Wales consultant scientist Professor Neil Pugh, and groin ultrasound by Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust lecturer practitioner Sarah Riley.
