Magnifico Open MRI launches at Clinic M in a first for Scotland

Clinic M in Inverness has installed a state-of-the-art Magnifico Open MRI scanner from Esaote. This milestone makes it the first independent clinic in Scotland to offer an open MRI service, significantly improving access to advanced diagnostic imaging for patients across the Highlands and Islands. The scanner was offcially unveiled at a launch event attended by guests including Inverness Provost Glynis Sinclair and Lord Baillie, alongside representatives from local football clubs and Raigmore Hospital.
The Magnifico Open MRI system is designed to provide high quality imaging with an open, patient-friendly design. Unlike traditional closed tunnel MRI scanners, Magnifico offers a more comfortable experience, reducing anxiety for claustrophobic patients and accommodating those who may have difficulty with standard MRI systems, such as children and individuals with mobility challenges. Previously, patients in Scotland requiring an open MRI scan had to travel as far as Newcastle for this type of imaging. Clinic M managing director Pauline Thomson highlighted the extensive efforts made to bring this cutting-edge technology to the region, reinforcing the clinic’s dedication to enhancing patient care and diagnostic effciency.
