Medispace Diagnostics and MyGP Clinic launch on-site MRI service

Medispace Diagnostics and MyGP Clinic have launched a new on-site MRI service in Antrobus, marking a step forward in delivering faster, more accessible diagnostic imaging. The development brings advanced MRI capability into the clinic environment, reducing dependence on external imaging providers and streamlining the end-to-end diagnostic pathway from referral through to reporting.
MRI scans delivered through external providers can involve multiple stages of delay, including waiting for appointments, travel time to imaging centres and additional waiting periods for radiology reporting. These factors can extend the time between referral and diagnosis, creating uncertainty for patients and slowing clinical decision making.
With the introduction of the on-site MRI service, patients can now be booked significantly faster, in many cases on the same day or within a greatly reduced time frame. Scan reports can also be returned on that day in a substantial number of cases, depending on clinical complexity.
By integrating imaging directly within MyGP Clinic, scan results are delivered straight to in-house clinicians, reducing reliance on external reporting pathways. This model addresses a known challenge in diagnostic services: imaging itself may be completed quickly, but delays in reporting can slow the overall process. The service has also been designed to improve access for patients who may and conventional MRI scanners difficult to tolerate, including those with claustrophobia, anxiety or certain physical limitations. It is built around the Siemens Magnetom Free.Max, a 0.55T MRI system featuring an 80cm ultra wide bore. Combined with advanced image reconstruction technology, the system supports faster scan protocols while maintaining diagnostic quality. This helps reduce the need for repeat scans or sedation in some cases and improves overall efficiency.
Dr Stephen Coogan of MyGP Clinic described the service as a major milestone for local healthcare delivery. The clinic emphasised that the service is designed to reduce waiting lists, improve appointment availability and provide a more efficient diagnostic pathway for patients in the local community. Medispace Diagnostics business development manager Sean Keefe commented that the partnership reflects a shared commitment to improving access to diagnostics and reducing unnecessary delays. He noted that integrating scanning and reporting within a single workflow reduces inefficiencies often seen in outsourced systems and supports faster, more confident clinical decision making. Both organisations plan to explore further opportunities to expand community-based diagnostic services.
