Mobile MRI eases Redhill pressure

InHealth is providing Surrey and Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust with a mobile MRI service at its East Surrey Hospital in Redhill.

The service is provided within the hospital grounds on a fortnightly basis for a 15-month period, depending on demand.

The contract was fully implemented within six weeks from the trust’s initial inquiry. Admitted MRI Manager June Milliams: “We were impressed with the smooth turn-around”

Around 20 patients are examined at each session by experienced radiographers, using a Siemens Magnetom Symphony MRI system. With the exception of contrast examinations, the full range of MRI scans is provided.

While the facility allows a considerably increased patient throughput, the trust is commissioning its own MRI scanner to replace an ageing static system.
