Move towards major trauma service is aided by HDCT

At Southampton General Hospital are specialist radiographer David Holmes, advanced practitioner radiographers Helen Haigh and Richard Smith, GE Healthcare’s CT modality manager Jane Hickey and consultant radiologist Dr Richard Blaquiere.

University Hospital Southampton NHS Foundation Trust has received the 100th European installation of the GE Healthcare Discovery CT750HD.

Consultant radiologist Dr Richard Blaquiere says: “This new CT scanner is a first class addition to the radiology department.  The capabilities for vascular and perfusion imaging as well as the spectral capabilities add substantially to our CT portfolio.

“This scanner does not just keep us at the technological forefront but has direct patient benefits as a result of the additional information obtained from dual energy acquisitions.”
