Birmingham-based radiologist makes top researchers list

A consultant radiologist at The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital NHS Foundation Trust in Birmingham has been named among the world’s foremost scientists. Consultant MSK radiologist Professor Rajesh Botchu features on the Stanford/Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists list for 2025.

The prestigious ranking is created by the Californian university in collaboration with publisher Elsevier, using data from the Scopus database. It identifies the most influential researchers globally based on their citation impact, using a composite indicator (c-score) that considers various metrics like the h-index and co-authorship adjustments.

The list is updated annually and categorises scientists into 22 fields and 174 sub-fields representing the top two per cent of all scientists worldwide in terms of research impact.
