Celebrating International Women’s Day – Siobhán Crowley

To mark International Women’s Day on March 8, RAD Magazine asked just a few of the women who are having an impact in the medical imaging industry to give an insight into their working lives and what led them to a career in the imaging sector.

I am incredibly proud to be the CEO of Medray Group, a leading provider of diagnostic imaging technology in the medical sector. Born and raised in Dublin, Ireland, my business journey began at a young age within my family’s business. During my secondary school years, I spent my summer holidays working in the family business, focusing on the design and installation of water displays across Ireland and managing customer needs. It was during this time that I developed a deep understanding of the importance of prioritising customer satisfaction – a value that continues to guide my approach to leadership today.

I started my education in the finance sector and qualified as an accounting technician. After experiencing customer care and sales roles I realised I enjoyed the front end of the business and interaction with people. After entering management in 2006 I gained my qualification in leadership from DIT Dublin.

I began my career at Agfa in customer care before transitioning into sales under the guidance of a former director. I then moved to the professional audio-video industry and was later promoted to managing director of this business, which was acquired by Medray in 2008, where I took on the role of divisional manager. Two years later, I advanced to sales director, and after a decade leading the sales division I was appointed CEO of Medray in 2020.

During my early days at Medray the business faced the transition from analogue to digital technology where we successfully introduced new digital radiology products to the imaging portfolio. Medray has experienced significant growth, especially over the past four years, solidifying the company as a prominent player in the diagnostic imaging field. Founded in Ireland in 1979, Medray expanded into the UK market in 2020 and entered the Swiss market in early 2025 with the establishment of Medray Switzerland in October 2024.

I enjoy spending quality time with my husband and two children. The unwavering support of my family has been instrumental in enabling me to achieve the success I have experienced in my career so far. I also have a lifelong passion for Irish dancing, which I continue to enjoy with my two girls. After participating in a Medray charity walk in 2024, I discovered a love for outdoor walking, which I also continue to enjoy today.

I am incredibly proud of the Medray team and deeply appreciative of our customers and business partners. Our commitment remains firmly focused on delivering exceptional service and sales support. I look forward to leading Medray’s growth and success well into the future.
