Dr Ahmed Maiter receives BIR/Bayer Artificial Intelligence Fellowship Award

The British Institute of Radiology (BIR) and Bayer have collaborated to create an opportunity for an AI Fellowship. This provides a week in industry to see the work that goes into creating products for customers. The selected candidate meets experts in industry, asks questions and learns about the obstacles faced.
Dr Ahmed Maiter is a radiology resident and clinical research fellow in Sheffield. His academic interests span many areas of AI for radiology, with a particular focus on evaluating commercial devices and benchmarking performance. He received the award at the BIR AI Congress at the end of March. Dr Maiter said: “My time with Bayer provided valuable insights into healthcare industry and broadened my perspective on AI in radiology. Through a variety of meetings and workshops, I was able to explore a range of topics related to AI, such as product design, return on investment, evaluation frameworks and regulation.”
