Dr John Buscombe becomes honorary member

Dr John Buscombe

Dr John Buscombe received honorary membership of the BNMS in recognition of his outstanding and sustained contributions to nuclear medicine in the UK and internationally.

Dr Buscombe’s career spans several decades of clinical excellence, research, education and leadership. He has worked across several institutions and is widely respected for his commitment to high quality patient care and for advancing the role of nuclear medicine in modern clinical practice. A former president of the BNMS, Dr Buscombe provided strong and thoughtful leadership, championing innovation, collaboration and high professional standards. His influence has extended globally and he is a speaker and educator who contributes to the development of nuclear medicine practice worldwide.

Dr Buscombe has made contributions to research across multiple areas of the speciality, including nuclear cardiology, infection imaging, PET imaging and theragnostics. He has been involved in postgraduate training and developing multidisciplinary programmes to support the next generation of nuclear medicine professionals. He continues to contribute as professor of nuclear medicine at the University of Pretoria, South Africa.
