Patients attending Nevill Hall Hospital are to benefit from the a Philips Epiq ultrasound system brought with funds donated by the Nevill Hall Hospital thrombosis and general research fund.

Vascular laboratory manager Jane Trumper said: “We are so grateful to the fund for all their hard work in raising the money.  This system is the first of its kind in Wales, and the sheer quality of the images will help us enormously with diagnosis.  It is a dream to use and it will mean that we are able to continue to provide an excellent service to patients suffering from stroke, transient ischemic attack, deep vein thrombosis, abdominal aortic aneurysm and peripheral vascular disease.”

The handover of the equipment was attended by fund members and two founder members, Joyce Breillat and Jean Emery.  Breillat paid tribute to past members and reflected on the history of the fund from its earliest days in 1957: “While raising funds for Nevill Hall Hospital has been hard work, the feeling of goodwill for the hospital from the local community has never wavered and in that sense fundraising has never been difficult.”
