On August 16, the breast screening team at The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust celebrated 35 years of the Breast Screening Programme. Attended by a variety of staff old and new, it was a celebration of the lives that have been saved and the progress that has been made since the programme began in 1989.
Staff were able to reminisce over old photographs and a new timeline board highlighted the many technological advancements and service changes that have happened over the past 35 years.
The event provided the opportunity for previous staff to meet and share stories with current staff members. “The event received excellent feedback and a good time was had by all – the cake went down particularly well,” said the organisers.
