Next generation ultrasound at Birmingham

At Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust, with an Acuson S2000 ultrasound system, are Siemens clinical applications specialists Nicola Towers and Rob Maxfield, regional sales manager for ultrasound Bernadette Leonard, professor in maternal and fetal medicine Mark Kilby and clinical midwife manager Veronica Donovan.
Birmingham Women’s NHS Foundation Trust claims to be one of two trusts in the UK offering specialist care to women. It has installed two Acuson S2000 ultrasound systems from Siemens Healthcare in its fetal medicine centre.
Taking referrals for suspected fetal abnormalities, the department is using the systems for screening cardiac defects as well as assessing mothers with conditions such as diabetes and epilepsy. The systems offers imaging capabilities that provide clear border definition and improved tissue contrast.
