Nicola Fishwick becomes AXREM ultrasound SFG convenor

GE HealthCare business development and omnichannel wave leader ultrasound Nicola Fishwick has been appointed the new convenor of the AXREM ultrasound special focus group. Fishwick will represent the group on the AXREM executive committee to ensure that ultrasound is considered within the strategic priorities and direction of the association.

The ultrasound SFG is one of the smaller groups but also one of the most proactive, having worked on a number of projects over recent years including a used equipment checklist and guidance around the decontamination of transducers, giving Fishwick a basis to build upon. The SFG has collaborated extensively with the British Medical Ultrasound Society, The Society and College of Radiographers and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine.

The combination of individual patient care combined with cutting-edge technology drove Fishwick to pursue a career in diagnostic radiography. This rolled into diagnostic ultrasound when a training post became available at Whiston Hospital, Prescot. An interest in driving technology adoption guided her into the commercial environment, initially as a clinical application specialist.

She has held various roles at major manufacturers during her 17-year commercial career. She said: “Working together with AXREM on behalf of the whole industry is my absolute privilege and I am excited for this next chapter and driving new workstreams for 2025.”

Canon Medical Systems regional manager south Tim Palarm will continue in the role of vice convenor.
