Northampton General Hospital DXA

Pictured following the handover of a Hologic Horizon A DXA system to Northampton General Hospital are Vertec product specialist Bill Reid with assistant practitioners Della Townley and Nicky Courtney. The new system continues to enhance the hospital’s service to the community with a range of bone density and osteoporosis screening as part of the hospital’s 210,000 radiology examinations every year.

Townley said: “The DXA service has been running for more than 15 years at Northampton General, first with a Hologic QDR 4500 and now with the Horizon. The service is staffed by our four assistant practitioners and a radiographer, providing three lists every week. We are a small team who work really well together. This is a beneficial service for all age groups, investigating everything from low velocity fractures to osteoporosis.”
