Olympic star sails in to unveil Ashford MRI scanner

Alliance Medical regional managing director Russell Trenter, former Olympic sailer Sarah Ayton and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust chief executive Suzanne Rankin.

Former Olympic sailing athlete,Sarah Ayton OBE joined Alliance Medical and Ashford Hospital staff to launch a GE Healthcare Signa Explorer MRI scanner at a special launch event.  The scanner represents a £1.4m investment by Alliance Medical and Ashford and St Peter’s Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust

Trust chief executive Suzanne Rankin said: “We are honoured to have Sarah join us to unveil our MRI scanner. This technology is a sound investment in improving the experience of patients undergoing scans and highlights our commitment to developing services at Ashford Hospital.  It means that we can provide a full complement of MRI imaging at both our hospitals, to ensure the best levels of diagnosis and treatments.”

The system is housed in a modular building outside of Ashford Hospital, the fist of its kind from Alliance Medical in the UK.
