Orthopaedic centre’s useful software upgrade

At a follow-up meeting at Southmead Hospital’s Avon Orthopaedic Centre are lead technician Louise Carter, clinical research fellow and orthogeriatrician Dr Celia Gregson, director of North Bristol NHS Trust DXA service Professor Jon Tobias and Vertec product specialist Bill Reid.

The visit followed the upgrade of an Hologic Discovery system with the latest APEX software that includes whole body composition analysis.  The upgrade was funded by the Wellcome Foundation and brings the Discovery right up to date.  Bill Reid said: “This upgrade really gives new life to older systems, making them as good as any made today.”
