The Parapet Breast Unit housed in King Edward VII Hospital at Windsor provides a dedicated breast symptomatic and screening service to the residents of East Berkshire and surrounding areas as part of the NHS Breast Screening Programme.

Parapet installed its first Hologic Dimensions unit in 2012/13 as part of the screening programme and has two mobile and three static units from that period.  Having recently taken delivery of a Hologic Affirm tomosynthesis breast biopsy guidance system and a Hologic ATEC system, all x-ray guided biopsies are performed using tomosynthesis.

Lead superintendent mammographer Sue Clarke explained: “Most are performed using the Hologic Eviva breast biopsy system which has the benefits of being simple to operate, with a 4.5 second tissue acquisition cycle and seamless integration for a minimally invasive breast biopsy, and as a result, patient outcomes are more compassionate and definitely improved.”
