Portable ultrasound supports AAA programme

The North Yorkshire and Humber NHS abdominal aortic aneurysm (AAA) screening programme at Hull and East Yorkshire Hospitals NHS Trust has taken delivery of two Esaote MyLab Alpha portable ultrasound machines.  They will be used to perform quick scans on around 9,500 men who have reached 65 years of age, across the North Yorkshire and Humber region, with the results being available immediately.

The team chose the MyLab Alpha model for its crisp image quality and the movable screen, which helps reduce the potential for repetitive strain injury.  They were supplied with a protective wheeled case for ease of transportation.
