In February, Her Majesty The Queen officially opened a £3 million MRI suite at The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, King’s Lynn. The facility is equipped with an Optima MR360 1.5T and an Optima MR450w with GEM Suite to help increase the capacity for scans, predicted to rise from an annual 6,600 in 2008 to 13,000 per annum in the next few years. General manager of GE Healthcare UK and Ireland Karl Blight said: “The scanners are a key part of this state-of-the-art suite and we are pleased to be part of delivering diagnostic facilities for patients here.”
Trust director of planning and performance Barbara Cummings said: “We chose GE Healthcare scanners as we have been impressed by the quality of the images and the more relaxed patient experience they allow. They will make it possible to carry out breast and heart scans, significantly improving the diagnostic facilities for patients in the area.”
