University College Dublin Diagnostic Imaging has hosted a three-day CT Academy aimed at radiographers that have not undertaken previous post graduate studies in CT. The event was popular with radiographers from all regions of Ireland that registered. In addition five radiographers from Malta attended.

The academy addressed the background physical principles of CT, supported by PACS laboratory-based sessions which solidified the theoretical component.  A wide range of CT specific applications were discussed, with emphasis placed on best practice guidelines and radiation dose considerations.

Feedback from delegates said that the CT academy bridged a gap in radiographic education. Lab based sessions were particularly successful as delegates had the opportunity to personally manipulate and post process CT images, identically to the clinical environment in which they work.
