Radiography students receive top careers advice at London job fair

Almost 200 radiography students had the chance to meet representatives from hospitals, NHS trusts and recruitment agencies at this year’s Kingston University and St George’s, University of London, careers fair.
Hosted at St George’s Tooting campus, it was the largest radiography fair the joint faculty of health, social care and education, has hosted so far with 18 organisations taking part.
Students had the chance to find out about future career pathways and network with various healthcare organisations while the university’s diagnostic radiography academics were on hand to offer employment advice throughout.
The fair took place shortly after the faculty opened its new radiography suite at St George’s with facilities that allow students to replicate exactly how real scans would take place but without the radiation. It is equipped with the latest image capturing technology and also has mobile x-ray machines, an x-ray intensifier and four ultrasound machines.
Senior lecturer in diagnostic radiography Matthew Foster said: “We have been growing the radiography careers event over the past couple of years and were delighted to see just how many students and organisations attended and engaged with each other.
“The event gives students a unique opportunity to discuss employment opportunities and a day in the life of the visiting trusts. It is our hope to see these relationships translate to optimal fulfilment of employment opportunities and help link students with organisations that are right for them.”
