Regular maintenance helps extend life of scanner room doors

Requests for RF door maintenance packages are increasing, according to Envirotect. “It is recommended to have a preventative maintenance package in place for scanner rooms to minimise risks and extend the life of the RF door,” the company says. Annual inspections consist of a full examination of the door including repair or replacement of loose or twisted RF fingers, and cleaning deposits around the door frames and floor sills. Doors with mechanical latches may benefit from the addition of a fixed handle for opening to minimise damage to the latching handle. To ensure that the integrity of the shielding is not compromised during installation of a fixed handle Envirotect recommends work is carried out by one of its engineers as part of the maintenance package. Inspections can be scheduled around busy periods. After inspection, the company submits a report including recommendations to enhance the service life of the RF door.
